I was born in Santiago, Chile in 1984. In 1988 my family moved from Santiago to
Punta Arenas (very south of Chile), where I spend 13 years of my life. Early in 1998 I started discovering computers and Internet and rapidly I developed a particular affinity with informatics. In 2002 I enrolled the computer science-engineering program (Ingeniería civil en Informática) of the
Technical University Federico Santa Maria (Valparaiso, Chile). During my engineering studies, I learned the passion for engineering as a whole creative process. Of course, I hated the physics, chemistry, and mathematic courseware, but today I see that they teach more than formulas and laws. They teach a way of thinking that is the foundation of engineering and the engineer’s capacity to solve problems. In 2006, motivated by my curiosity to know other cultures, my need escape the inertia of traditional curricula, and do thing differently I moved to France. From mid 2006 to mid 2007 I enrolled the research master program at the
INSA of Rennes (an especial program oriented to teach students how to do research). As part of that program, I spent 6 good months doing research with
Benoit Baurdy and
Olivier Barais. During this period I learned several things, I was curious to know how the system works, how research help the world moving on, and what is the role of education in this cycle. In October 2007 I started working as a PhD student (supervised by
Benoit Baudry and
Jean-Marc Jezequel) at
INRIA (the French institute for research in computer science) for a European project called DiVA. I love travelling, discovering cultures and learning as much as I can from them; working on this project gave me opportunity to visit several places across Europe (England, Italy, Germany, Norway...) and the world (China, Canada, U.S.A, etc).
During my whole education and particularly in 2008 I had the opportunity to listen to true stories about entrepreneurship (ideas that change the world), and learn about enterprise creation, and innovation. This captivated me! As fall 2008 I decided again to escape the system's inertia and avoid doing research in the traditional way. I decided to change by turning
to high-level management leadership and walk the path of innovation, creation, and entrepreneurship.
